In Florida
Installing an EV charger on a new 240-volt circuit is electrical work, and the Florida Building Code lists no electrical work as exempt from a permit. Electrical work is also excluded from the $7,500 permit exemption. Your city or county building department issues the electrical permit and inspects it, and an owner may act as their own electrical contractor only on a home they occupy and do not offer for sale or lease.
